The Queen City Voxers' Meetup on Saturday was a success! In attendance were Amy, M-----l, Mr. Guilt, Nyght, yours truly, various spouses and little ones, and, all the way from Seattle, homebody!
The weather cooperated, with storms passing us by to the north and temperatures avoiding their Cincinnati worst. Ault Park proved a terrific place to get together.
The kids had a great time while the adults chatted...
And everyone enjoyed their Vox goodies!

^^^ A few of us went for a hike in the woods around Ault Park. The hike turned out to be much longer than we expected. The trails we started on weren't mapped, and for a good long while, we didn't know where we were.
<<< Orange = trails that appear on the official park map. Blue = train tracks. Red = the approximate path we hiked, starting from the red circle at the bottom.
We thought the path would probably hug the perimeter of the park and bring us quickly around to the trailhead located at the other red circle. Hah! There were many branching trails, none of which were marked. (Probably some were deer trails.) We were sure we'd know if we crossed the park's service road; instead we ended up walking all the way AROUND the service road. Yes, M-----l... very funny. Now quit laughing and put down your root beer before it comes out your nose.
At the end where we started, the path was clearly maintained by park staff, so we can (in my opinion) be forgiven for thinking that we weren't embarking on a wild goose chase! It would be nice if that end of the trail had a sign reading, "Bring water, beef jerky, and a change of underwear. You are going to be walking for a very long time."
<<< Despite getting lost, we still enjoyed the woods; it was cool and not at all buggy.

<<< This is the point where we finally saw a spray-painted arrow on a tree, suggesting that civilization had to be near. Hooray!

Where: Ault Park playground, 3600 Observatory Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45208. We'll look for each other at the playground marked by the red X below. If it's raining, head for the shelter to the north of the X.
Eats: bring your own picnic! If you feel like it, bring something to share too.

]]>A while ago there was discussion about a Meetup for Cincinnati-area Voxers. But we all got busy with one thing or another and it never quite jelled. Are folks still interested?
The Vox authority on such matters tells me an organized meetup would get a plug from Team Vox and--I know this is of particular importance--some sort of schwag. (Mmm...schwaaag.)
If there's interest we can piece together the details. One that occurs to me: some Queen City Voxers have kids. Would you prefer a kid-friendly meeting place where they could hang out together, or an adults-only event?

]]>boy was this weekend hot or what? well here is los angeles it was probably about 90 degrees all weekend and i almost thought it was summer time! i was just getting used to the 70 degree weather and let me tell ya, i was in heaven!
on saturday afternoon we went to the pet expo and we should have skipped it because it was super crowed and way too hot to be walking around...plus fighting the crowds was a pain! i told hubby that the pets smelled better than a lot of the peeps walking around, bumping into you and not saying "excuse me".
we got to see some adorable doggies that i wanted to take home that were up for adoption. i probably shouldn't have checked that building out because i got all teary eyed looking at all those sad faces.
we got to see saw some awesome anacondas, birds and other animals...
sunday i met ana (mamirosa), her daughter sofia, her bff andrea, her bloggie buddies; vero (la vero), her sons and ana (ana banana) @ plaza mexico.
we had so much fun chit chatting and getting to know each other better. it really is a small world!
we had lunch, (thanks again to ana banana and vero for treating! you guys are too kind). *hugs*

]]>Tonight I met Kelly, Kelly's mom, and Janie for happy hour in Baltimore. They call it happy hour for a reason. It makes you happy! And luckily, the second part of the name means nothing, because it can easily last longer than an hour.
I had to start things off with a bathroom self-portrait, because that's what I do. They had really pretty flowers in the bathroom.
